ARTIST SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

The Kirby Cultural Arts Complex accepts and welcomes exhibition proposals via email or mail. Submissions are reviewed by the Director. We cannot provide individual reviews or immediate responses regarding submitted work although your materials will be reviewed in a timely fashion. We do not adhere to a particular timeframe in which to review submissions but do our best to promptly review the materials and then respond. If an exhibition opportunity arises, a member of the staff will contact you for more information about your work. The gallery is a community space, therefore artists submitting proposals should be cognizant of community needs.

If your work is chosen for representation by our gallery you will be required to sign an “Artist Contract” which outlines roles and responsibilities of the artist as well as the gallery. The artist is responsible for the delivery, placement and removal of the work by the agreed upon dates in the contract. If the Artist’s Work is not physically removed from the Gallery within thirty (30) days immediately following the Removal Date, such work shall be considered abandoned by the Artist and shall as of such date become the exclusive property of the Person County Arts Council, Inc. unless arrangements have been made prior to the completion of the show. Artist(s) are required to make available for sale at least 50% of work shown in gallery.

The Artist shall pay a commission to the Gallery. The commission is 15% if a County resident and 25% if a Non-County Resident.

PROCEDURE FOR SUBMISSIONS

You must include your full name, mailing address, email address and a phone number, a brief description of your proposal or an artist statement along with 6-10 image examples and descriptions of each work to include size, medium, date of completion, and retail price. Examples should be representative of the type of work you are interested in showing. Mailed submissions should be in book, catalog, CD/DVD or brochure format and may include sample prints (do not send originals). Online submissions can be provided through web-links or e-mail attachments in jpg or pdf format. Please limit jpg attachments to no more than 6-10 image files. File dimensions must not exceed 1200 pixels W x 1200 pixels H.

It is also recommended that you include your CV or resume, website address, supporting materials (links to exhibition reviews, articles, blog features, etc.) and list of any current gallery representation for further review.

Materials sent will be kept by the Gallery for future review and will not be returned. Original artwork or slides will not be accepted and the KCAC is not responsible for the return or safe keeping of such materials, if submitted.

The Kirby Cultural Arts Complex is not responsible for lost or damaged submissions.
