Annual Amateur Photography Competition

This contest is for amateurs only. No professional photographers are allowed to enter the contest - a professional photographer is defined as earning 50% or more of his/her income through photographic works. Entries will be disqualified if they are found to be the work of a professional photographer. 

Categories:
● Animals: the subject of the photo must be an animal(s).
● Black and White: the photo must be black and white.
● Portrait: the subject of the photo must be a person/people.
● Scenic: the subject of the photo must be a landscape or panoramic image of a scene.
 ● Open: may be of any subject.

Artists may submit up to 2 entries per category. Entries must be turned into the Kirby Gallery at 213 North Main Street on June 1-29, 2024 during gallery opening hours. The Person County Recreation Arts and Parks and the Kirby Gallery reserve the right to reject any photo for any reason. Accepted entries will be displayed in the Kirby Gallery July 1-31, 2024. Artists may have their work for sale. The Gallery retains a commission for all sales. The commission is 15% for a Person County resident and 25% for a non-county resident. All reasonable caution will be exercised with all photographs; however, the Person County Recreation, Arts and Parks Department and the Kirby Gallery are not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged photos, frames, etc. The Reception for the show will be Friday, July 26, 6-8 pm. All work must be picked up after the show closes. Any work not retrieved after August 10, 2024 becomes property of Kirby Cultural Arts Complex.
