Person County Animal Services promotes and protects the welfare of our citizens and animals by promoting responsible pet ownership, providing services, care and public safety and preventing the spread of animal borne diseases.  We promote the adoption of healthy, non-aggressive animals to the public and provide temporary shelter for stray, unwanted or homeless animals in our community.

Visitation & Weekend Operating Hours

Open visitation for dogs is 10-11 a.m. and 2-3 p.m., Monday-Friday. If you are interested in meeting any of our adoptable dog outside of these hours, a staff member will bring them to meet you in our indoor education room or one of our outdoor play areas!

Call ahead for Saturday Hours. Events such as Adoption Events or Rabies Clinics may be held at a different location other than the shelter.

Check our Facebook page for updates on closings or events!

We are proud to utilize Fear Free methods at our shelter!  All staff and volunteers are trained to recognize signs of Fear, Anxiety & Stress (FAS), and use multiple methods to reduce FAS to make an animal's visit or stay at the shelter as pleasant as possible.
