KART (KIDS AND ANIMALS READING TOGETHER)

Our KART Program is for children in Grades 1-8 to come to the shelter and read to our animals.  Participation in the KART Program helps with reading skills, social skills and helps teach children positive interactions with dogs and cats. Reading has also been shown to reduce stress and anxiety in shelter pets. Participants in our KART Program receive a punch card and receive rewards for completing their cards.

Class Field Trips are available as well! Please contact our Shelter Manager Tabitha Briggs for more information or to schedule a group time.

STRUT-A-MUTT PROGRAM

Looking for a way to spend time with dogs AND get exercise? Person County Animal Services offers the Strut-A-Mutt Program, where you can walk an adoptable dog on our graveled walking track behind the shelter.  This allows our dogs to get much needed outdoor and socialization time, and allows you to get healthier and help a shelter animal.

Person County Animal Services hosts and participates in multiple events throughout the year including Adoption Events, Parades, School and Community Events and more! We are always open to attending an event within our community, and love interacting with the people of Person County. CHRISTMAS FOR CRITTERS

Christmas for Critters is our largest food and supply drive of the year.  The event is typically held in November. Donations of food, blankets, toys, litter, treats, collars, leashes and other supplies are accepted to help support the animals at Animal Services.  The support we receive every year is AMAZING and we are so appreciative of our community support!
