“My Lady” addition to Kirby Art Park (August 2021)
"My Lady" by Amy Feldman Levine, is a beautiful sculpture constructed out of recycled soda cans. This sculpture took Levine about 3 months to complete. This addition to the Kirby Art Park was made possible by the Person County Arts Council, Person County Recreation, Arts, and Parks, Piedmont Community College, Uptown Roxboro Group, and Person County Tourism Development Authority. Installation was done by Olive Hill Welding & Fab., INC!
Paint by Numbers Mural (April 2021)
This community public art project was a part of "Out of the Blue Into the Art Celebration" in Uptown Roxboro. This celebration was a way to bring our community together in the midst of the Pandemic. We are so happy with the results of this project and send a BIG shout out to artist Kate Lagaly and all of the neighbors and friends who came out! We hope you enjoyed the memories as much as the artwork! Thank you to Person County Arts Council, Person County Recreation, Arts, and Parks, Piedmont Community College, Uptown Roxboro Group, and Person County Tourism Development Authority for making this project possible!
This public space was made possible by the Person County Arts Council, Person County Recreation, Arts, and Parks, Piedmont Community College, Uptown Roxboro Group, and the generous contributions of Michael Owen of Chandler Concrete & Terry Oakley with Freedom Cruizers of Roxboro NC with grading done by Brad's Tree Service, and installation by Olive Hill Welding & Fab., INC! We would also like to thank POLYWOOD in Roxboro, for their donation of two benches that sit on either side of this sculpture and allow you to take in the beauty of the Kirby Art Park.
Alley Mural Project (January 2020)
Crosswalk Project (June 2019)
This crosswalk in front of the Kirby depicts the iconic "Kirby Bird". Those familiar with the Kirby Theater may recognize this bird from the two murals on either side of the stage. This crosswalk is one of hopefully many more to come in the future! Thanks so much to Raleigh Gardiner for designing this concept, the Person County Arts Council for making this a part of the public art projects uptown, Person County Tourism Development Authority for funding this project, Uptown Roxboro Group and the City of Roxboro for helping to make this happen and constantly prioritizing the beautification of Uptown, Person County Recreation, Arts, and Parks for always supporting the arts and the Kirby, and lastly thank you to our amazing volunteers: Lynda Clayton, John Hill, Erin Ganey Hill, Trestney Moore, Jason Woods, Ayla Dunn, Beth Rieb Townsend, Olivia Townsend, and Duncan Clayton who helped bring this concept to life!
