Paint by Numbers Mural (April 2021)

This community public art project was a part of "Out of the Blue Into the Art Celebration" in Uptown Roxboro. This celebration was a way to bring our community together in the midst of the Pandemic. We are so happy with the results of this project and send a BIG shout out to artist Kate Lagaly and all of the neighbors and friends who came out! We hope you enjoyed the memories as much as the artwork! Thank you to Person County Arts Council, Person County Recreation, Arts, and Parks, Piedmont Community College, Uptown Roxboro Group, and Person County Tourism Development Authority for making this project possible!

Alley Mural Project (January 2020)

This beautiful series of 8 mural-paintings depicts the history, buildings and majestic wildlife of Person County. As you walk down the alleyway, the murals evolve from monochrome to full-color, representing the growth of our cherished county over time. While some things change, the beauty that is Person County continues to grow and shine. Kate Lagaly writes, "Person County is a gorgeous place filled with interesting things to see and lovely, welcoming people. There is a variety of breathtaking scenery, interesting animals, and a variety of beautiful buildings throughout the county. These murals are a celebration of Person County. I hope you enjoy looking at the murals as much as I enjoyed painting them."
Installed across from the Person County Courthouse, this project is heralded by the Person County Arts Council and received funding from the Person County Tourism Development Authority and the Uptown Roxboro Group. Our deepest thanks go out to these groups for making this happen.
The murals have been gifted to the City of Roxboro, North Carolina. The latest installation of these murals was completed by Philip Fish and Rodney Blanks.
Additionally, we give our deep thanks to Wimp Slaughter for letting us showcase these murals on his building!

Crosswalk Project (June 2019)

This crosswalk in front of the Kirby depicts the iconic "Kirby Bird". Those familiar with the Kirby Theater may recognize this bird from the two murals on either side of the stage. This crosswalk is one of hopefully many more to come in the future! Thanks so much to Raleigh Gardiner for designing this concept, the Person County Arts Council for making this a part of the public art projects uptown, Person County Tourism Development Authority for funding this project, Uptown Roxboro Group and the City of Roxboro for helping to make this happen and constantly prioritizing the beautification of Uptown, Person County Recreation, Arts, and Parks for always supporting the arts and the Kirby, and lastly thank you to our amazing volunteers: Lynda Clayton, John Hill, Erin Ganey Hill, Trestney Moore, Jason Woods, Ayla Dunn, Beth Rieb Townsend, Olivia Townsend, and Duncan Clayton who helped bring this concept to life!
