The Expressions Camp represents an established partnership between the Arts Council and both the Roxboro Housing Authority and the Person County School System. The program involves 2 arts-based summer camps, which each run for 1 week. Camps take place at community housing complexes and are targeted to expose youth (ages 5-11) to creative methods of self-expression. Camps currently take place at Harris Gardens & Weatherly Heights. The camp’s curriculum involves daily lessons in Movement (dance), Voice (music), Thought (art), and Expression (theater). This program uses art-education to empower at-risk youth and encourage the development of self-confidence, positive social skills and self-motivation, directly benefitting student academic experiences. This program has received past support from Person County United Way, Juvenile Crime Prevention Council, and the Sheetz foundation.
