Martha Connerton/Kinetic Works, presents "Electric + Eclectic" evening of brilliant choreography and sharp-edged dancing from NC's premier contemporary dance company.  You will alternately settle back into your seat and sit on the edge of it as the sheer artistry and dynamic qualities of the dancers combine with vivid imagery and storytelling through movement.  Martha Connerton is known for creating work to a wide variety of music and equally diverse dance styles from classical ballet to cutting-edge movement theater.  Let yourself be taken on a journey as Kinetic Works dancers draw you into their world.

Jerry Carroll

Jerry Carroll harvests a bumper crop of hilarity in his fast-paced, high-energy show.  Jerry found humor growing up on his family's farm.  From the time he could walk, Jerry joined his father and uncle to farm 130 acres of flue cured tobacco, 500 acres of corn, 500 acres of small grain, 500 acres of soybeans, 40 head of cattle, and 5,000 hogs per year.  Spending 14 hours a day in a tractor cab gave Jerry plenty of time to think about his life's dream of entertaining people and making them laugh.

James Garland is a well-knit alternative/indie rock band, centered around Durham, North Carolina. James Garland originated from Roxboro, North Carolina in 2013, with lead singer Jameson Harris and bassist Mason Cobb. James Garland started as a small, acoustic style group, but then quickly expanded, with members Elizabeth Henry, Logan Butler, Chris Gorman, and Zakk Baker, bringing a very unique, electrifying sound.

Roxboro native Kimgrouh has been active on the New York jazz scene as a pianist/composer for 25 years.  He is a Palmetto recording artist and his latest trio CD, Play (2006), features drummer Paul Motian and bassist Masa Kamaguchi.  More than a dozen recordings as a leader for Palmetto, OmniTone, and Soul Note labels, and has appeared on nearly 50 more as a sideman.  Has toured the US, Canada, Brazil, England, France, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, and Macao.

Jon Trachtman and Leslie Arthur are out-of-work musicians who room together in New York City.  To save money, Jon's been filing tax returns listing the pair as married.  They day of reckoning comes when the IRS informs the "couple" they're going to be investigated.  Leslie masquerades as a housewife, aided by Jon's fiancee, Kate.  Complicating matters further, Leslie and Kate are having an affair behind Jon's back, Jon's mother drops in unexpectedly to meet her son's fiancee, and Leslie's ex girlfriend shows up demanding to know why Leslie has changed and won't see her anymore.

John Brown Quintet

Bassist, composer, educator, and actor John Brown is a native of Fayetteville, North Carolina, and currently resides in Durham, NC.  John currently serves as Director of the Jazz Program and Associate Professor of the Practice of Music at Duke University, and he has served on the faculties of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, North Carolina State University, North Carolina Central University, and Guilford College.

Directed by Ray Pearce.  Based on the Gospel According to St. Matthew, a small group of people help Jesus Christ tell different parables by using a wide variety of games, storytelling techniques, and a hefty dose of comic timing.  An eclectic blend of songs ranging in style from pop to vaudeville is employed as the story of Jesus's life dances across the stage.  Dissolving hauntingly into the Last Supper and the Crucifixion, Jesus's messages of

kindness, tolerance, and love come vibrantly to life.
