SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED INFECTIONS (STI) PROGRAM

Person County Health Department is responsible for the direct delivery of free STI and HIV prevention and control services.  These services include providing clinical services, education and awareness efforts, and monitoring disease trends through surveillance and epidemiology.  STI Enhanced Role Nurses are available to see clients when no medical provider is present.

Goals of the STI Program

  • Reduce the incidence of STIs
  • Provide counseling and education on future risk reduction
  • Provide counseling as needed on coping with chronic STI
  • Provide outreach for care, management, and treatment to exposed sex partners
  • Provide condoms to clients free of charge
  • Duke University Medical Center providers are available to see patients on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Duke University Medical Center providers are available to see patients on Mondays and Tuesdays.  Extended Role Registered Nurses (for STI services) are available 5 days per week.
