Healthy Personians

Healthy Personians is a *certified community-based partnership that strives to assist the residents of Person County with establishing and maintaining healthy lifestyles. The primary goal of the partnership is to address public health priority areas identified through the most recent community health assessment.

Anyone interested in helping address our priority areas through service on a partner group is welcome to do so.  Partner group members do not have to be members of the Healthy Personians Advisory Board.  Call the number below if interested or for more information.

WHO PARTICIPATES IN HEALTHY PERSONIANS?

The Healthy Personians partnership is made up of representatives from the community, Person Memorial Hospital, Person County Health Department, Person County Schools, NC Cooperative Extension, Person Family Medical Center, Inc., Person County Senior Center, Roxboro Housing Authority, Person County Recreation, Arts and Parks, Person County Partnership for Children, Insight Human Services, Vaya Health, and Piedmont Community College. The group collaborates to provide resources to the county that address health needs and concerns.

*The advisory board meets on the second Monday in July, October, January, and April at 10:00 a.m. at the Person County Health Department unless scheduled otherwise. Guests are welcome to sit in on the meetings. It is recommended that anyone interested in attending a meeting call 336-597-2204 x2277 to verify the meeting schedule as sometimes it is subject to change.

WHEN & HOW DID HEALTHY PERSONIANS GET STARTED?

Healthy Personians started in the year 2000 as a way to address broad-based health needs in the community. It followed the Healthy Carolinians model of developing local partnerships to improve the health of all North Carolinians. Healthy Carolinians in turn was modeled after the national initiative, Healthy People 2020.

HOW IS HEALTHY PERSONIANS FUNDED AND SUPPORTED? 

Healthy Personians is funded primarily by grants and donations. It is supported by Person County Health Department and operates under the Health Education section.
