EMS Division

The Department’s Emergency Medical Service (EMS) Division was established over 4 decades ago and maintains the highest quality level of care responding to medical incidents requiring immediate care. Medical responses receive an advanced life support paramedic unit that are stationed at EMS Bases strategically located within the County.  There are additional units added for special events and State deployments to maintain the demand for specialized and increased medical responses.

The EMS Division serves as the lead agency for the emergency medical services system in the County and is responsible for coordinating all system participants in Person County; encompassing both public and private sectors including the medical first responder program. In North Carolina, counties have been given the primary responsibility for assuring that EMS systems are developed, implemented and for designating a local EMS agency.

The Department encourages its employees to broaden their leadership education to assist them for promotions.  EMS has many personnel that have completed and graduated from leadership and other courses at accredited training institutes across the State and the Nation.

Training is provided by our own personnel, guest medical speakers, and because we are located just minutes away from two internationally known medical centers, these instructors provide excellent training to our Paramedics and EMTs regularly.
