 Person County Prepare - Our County's Emergency Notification System

Person County has partnered with Rave Mobile Safety, a mass notification and incident management leader that helps organizations and public safety agencies communicate and collaborate during emergencies. We will be using this communication system to communicate operational updates and alerts to County residents and businesses. Registered users have access to emergency alerts from Person County including:

  • Public safety and emergency-related warnings
  • Time-sensitive notifications
  • Wide-spread infrastructure service disruptions

Alerts and notifications can be sent via text, email, and/or a phone call, depending upon which method(s) the user chooses. Take the time to customize your notifications to meet your preferences.

  • What is Person County Prepare? Person County Prepare is Person County’s official emergency alert and notification system used to send alerts to the public during emergencies. Person County Prepare is a free service that allows you to sign up to receive customized alerts via text message, email, and voice message. This service is provided by Person County at no cost to the public; however, message and data rates may apply.
  • Why should I sign up for Person County Prepare? Person County uses Person County Prepare to send official, real-time alerts to the public with information about potentially life-saving actions they may need to take to keep themselves and their families safe.
  • How does it work? When an emergency occurs that meets the criteria for sending out an alert to the public, Person County emergency dispatchers will gather the necessary information and push out an alert to the affected area. Alerts can be sent out county-wide to everyone who has opted-in to the system, or to a specific area or neighborhood for more localized events.
  • Can you guarantee that I will receive a notification if I register? Disasters and emergencies are chaotic and unpredictable, and notification is dependent on external providers such as your wireless carrier or email delivery service outside Person County’s control. Person County Prepare will use several means of communication to improve the likelihood that residents will see the message.
  • Who can sign up for Person County Prepare? Person County Prepare is available to anyone who lives, works, travels through, or visits Person County. The registered address can be your home location, work location, or any other location you care about.
  • I don’t own a computer – how can I sign up for Person County Prepare? You can visit your local library to sign up online. Those who do not have computer access may contact Person County at 336-330-2233.
  • How often will I receive alerts? Emergency alerts will only be sent when there is an immediate threat to life and/or property. Community notifications will be sent when the criteria for sending an alert are met.
  • Will my information be disclosed or shared? No, your information is private and will not be used or distributed in any manner. The information that you provide is exempt from public disclosure and will be used for emergency purposes only.
