The Person Soil & Water Conservation District is a governmental subdivision of the State of North Carolina formed under the provisions of NC General Statute, Chapter 139 and governed by a five-member Board of Supervisors made up of three elected members and two members appointed by the NC Soil & Water Conservation Commission.

The District was created for the primary purpose of providing local direction to voluntary, incentive-based conservation programs that assist landowners in protecting and conserving the natural resources of Person County.  These include soil, water, wildlife, and unique plant and animal habitats.  The USDA/Natural Resources Conservation Service works hand-in-hand with the District to provide information and technical assistance to farmers, individuals, groups, organizations, or units of government in Person County.

The District also sponsors and develops educational programs for youth and adults through civic programs, school contests, tours and field days.

Mission Statement:

The mission of the Person Soil & Water Conservation District is to promote the conservation of soil, water and related natural resources in Person County through education, information, technical assistance, and best management practices for the benefit of the environment, economy, and county citizens.
