Person County issues a Declaration of a State of Emergency

Person County has declared a State of Emergency to coincide with Governor McCrory’s State of Emergency for North Carolina as issued yesterday. Although we do not expect any major impacts at this time, the county is still prepared. Kyle Puryear, Chairman of the Board, has signed the Declaration which imposes no restrictions or prohibitions. Greg White, Interim Emergency Services Director stated, “with the rain chances most likely increasing tonight and into the late night we may experience trees down and power outages.” In addition to county emergency responders, the Volunteer Fire Departments have a vital role in assisting our communities. Depending on the federal government assistance, the fire departments may be eligible for reimbursement of expenses.
The State of Emergency became effective on October 2nd at 12:00pm and shall remain in effect until modified or rescinded by the Chairman.
