The Person County Public Library is excited to announce that it is starting a seed library in 2018.

Come learn about Southern heirloom seed varieties that will be freely available for you to grow. Seeds will be available at the event. Horticulture agent Johnny Coley will present information about starting a successful garden.

Seed libraries are part of a movement to preserve seed diversity and make open-pollinated seeds and seed saving techniques available to communities. Members of the public can "check out" free seeds to grow in their home garden, and experienced seed savers are invited to return their homegrown seeds to the seed library. Seed libraries include an educational component for those who are new to seed saving.
