Dr. Christine M. Darden was chronicled in Hidden Figures as “standing on the shoulders” of the three central women featured in the book. Darden will share how she catapulted from high school math teacher to a 40-year career with NASA as an internationally known leader in sonic-boom minimization research.

What is a Community Read?

We’re inviting all of Person County to read and discuss one book. Copies of Hidden Figures will be available at the library starting August 13. All are invited to read the book and attend events at the library. Discussion questions will be available for those wishing to host a discussion in their book club, classroom, civic organization, or church group.
