Under the direction of Jazz Studies Program Director Ira Wiggins, Ph.D., the NCCU Big Band Jazz Ensemble has earned high accolades at numerous American and international festivals. The ensemble also has performed at the White House on multiple occasions. Branford Marsalis and Joey Calderazzo have been artists-in-residence since 2005
